1 Chronicles 28 (NKJV)
v. 21 And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God - my God - will be with you. He will not leave you or forsake you until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.
This is a very familiar passage of scripture that I have read numerous times. We use it for encouragement in our daily lives and in our ministries.
Be strong and of good courage...but I have never paid attention to the words “and do it”.
Those same words are in verse 10 - Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong AND DO IT!.
Sometimes I think that God is saying that to me. DO IT! I have called you. I have equipped you! I have provided the resources for you! DO IT!
In my personal life DO IT = TAKE A STEP. Be strong and of good courage and take a step. When God wants me to do something new or different, he asks me to “just take a step”. I have learned that I can usually do that. Take one step and move forward.
We also read in this same chapter that David was passing the work on to his son Solomon. David thought he would be the one to build the temple. God had given him the detailed plans and the resources (v. 13 - 19). But the next steps were to be completed by his son.
What are we building today that others will complete?
What foundations are we building for our children or other people in our ministries to finish? God has provided the plans and He has provided the resources. Just like He did for David.
Do what God is asking you to do today. Follow the directions that God has given you for today - Be strong and of good courage, and DO IT! He will not leave you or forsake you until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.
TAKE A STEP!
